Our advice:
- You can combine with A Day Out At VumaWimbi Sandbank or Visiting Cultural Villages in Pemba as full day excursion
- Not allowed to feed or touch the bats, alter habitat, or take any items home and Walk in silence
- We suggest going in the morning; higher possibility of seeing the Bats and Monkeys
- Suitable for all ages and fitness level, children enjoy it a lot

Description
Come and join our experienced guide for a half day visit to Ngezi Forest Reserve. The Ngezi Forest Reserve is located in the north-western tip of Pemba, about 3 kilometers from Konde village and it covers a zone of 14.4 square kilometers (5.6 sq mi). It borders on the villages of Kiuyu Kwa Manda (south), Tondooni, Verani and Makangale (north), Msuka (east) and Kipangani (west); to the west, it also borders on the Pemba Channel. It is the last remains of a huge tract of indigenous forest which used to cover most of Pemba. Ngezi is home to the Pemba Flying Fox - a bat endemic to the island,Hawks, Red Colobus Monkeys, troupes of the Pemba velvet monkey bark and play and an eminent vibe is the thing that you get when strolling around. The forest itself is a protected area. On the east side of the Ngezi peninsula is Vumawimbi Beach, an immaculate beach with miles of white sand flanked by a pristine forest. On the western side is found the “Pango ya Watoro” or the cave of the fugitives.
If you are interested we can take some more time with you visiting the “Cultural areas” these are parts of the forest which are sacred and people periodically sweep and clean to appease their ancestors. These sacred place called “MIZIMU” are used for prayers, requests and offerings to the spirits of the dead. Local villagers recognize five such sites.
